What is URL Decode?
URL decoding reverses URL encoding. It turns the percent codes in a web address, such as %20 or %C3%A9, back into the characters they stand for.
It is handy for reading long links and query strings.
What this tool does
Decodes percent codes back into text, and reads plus signs as spaces, the way web forms write them. If the code is damaged, the tool shows an error.
How to use it
- Paste the encoded text or link.
- Leave Auto ticked, or press URL Decode.
- Read or copy the decoded text.
Did you know?
- In query strings a plus sign is the old way of writing a space, which is why decoders treat + as a space.
- A lone percent sign that is not followed by two hex digits is invalid, so decoding it fails.
