What is Word Counter?

A word counter tells you how long a piece of text is. Writers use it to meet essay limits, editors to keep articles to length, and anyone writing a post, bio or description to stay within a limit.

It also helps you judge how long text takes to read or say out loud.

What this tool does

Counts the words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences, paragraphs and lines in your text as you type, estimates the reading time at 200 words a minute and the speaking time at 130, and lists your most used words.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text into the box.
  2. Read the counts that appear below it, which update as you type.
  3. Check the most used words to spot repetition.
