What is Remove Accents?
Accents and other marks on letters are called diacritics. Some systems, file names and web addresses cannot handle them, so people strip them to get plain letters.
What this tool does
Splits each accented letter into its base letter and its mark, and then drops the marks. Letters without marks, and symbols, stay as they are.
How to use it
- Paste your text.
- Read the plain version in the result box.
- Copy it where you need it.
Did you know?
- Some letters, such as ø, ß and æ, are separate letters rather than accented ones, so they are not changed.
- Removing accents can change the meaning of a word in some languages, so check names before you use the result.
