About metres and millimetres
The metre (m) is the base unit of length in the metric (SI) system. Almost every other metric length unit is a multiple or a fraction of it.
A millimetre (mm) is one thousandth of a metre. It is used for small measurements in engineering, manufacturing and rainfall.
