What is Unescape HTML?

HTML entities are codes such as & or < that stand for single characters. Unescaping converts these codes back into the real characters.

What this tool does

Replaces HTML entities in your text with the characters they represent, so escaped markup becomes readable again.

How to use it

  1. Paste text that contains entities such as <div>.
  2. Leave Auto ticked or press the button.
  3. Copy the unescaped result.

Did you know?

  • Entities exist because a few characters have a special meaning in HTML and would otherwise be mistaken for markup.
  • Unescaped text should not be inserted into a web page without being escaped again, because it may contain HTML that a browser would run.
