What is Text Diff Checker?
A diff shows the differences between two versions of a text. Writers use it to review edits, developers to review changes to code, and anyone to find out what changed between two copies.
What this tool does
Compares the two texts line by line and shows added lines in green, removed lines in red and unchanged lines in gray, with a count of the changes. Each text can have up to 1,500 lines.
How to use it
- Paste the original text in the left box and the changed text in the right box.
- Read the comparison below, which updates as you type.
- Use the colors and + and - marks to see what changed.
Did you know?
- The Unix diff command, which this idea comes from, dates from the 1970s.
- Diffs work on lines, so changing one word marks the whole line as changed.
